The CSC's Executive updated the Machine Usage Agreement on 10 July 2022.

The updates are as follows:

  • A note was added that CSC Cloud resources fall under the same policies as the rest of CSC's machines and network.
  • A note was added that the Systems Committee may delete CSC Cloud resources when their CSC account expires.
  • A directive was added that all club reps read the Wiki page on Club Hosting when they become a club rep and then at least once a term for notices on that page.
  • MFCF was replaced with CSCF (when the previous 2007 version was published, CSC had relations with MFCF instead of CSCF, which may not even have existed at the time. CSC now has relations with CSCF more than MFCF.)
  • Various grammatical errors were corrected.

Note: Please do not merge this PR until 18 July 2022, to allow members time to receive the new version.

Update (@a3thakra) Adding the WIP label till to indicate that this shouldn't be merged. Feel free to remove it when you're ready.

Nit: seems like we have non-breaking spaces instead of normal spaces around all links, I'm not really sure why (and maybe we can investigate later) but I would appreciate if we used non-breaking spaces here for consistency!

Eh, I think DNS is fine - it's a widely used acronym when talking about infrastructure or machine resources.

Also, the zone is csclub.uwaterloo.ca, not csclub.uwaterloo.

I think it's worth expanding MUA into its full form, either inline (eg. Machine Usage Agreement (MUA)) or in the glossary of definitions. DNS is something you can google and figure out, but MUA is not, so I think it's especially important to be clear what we're talking about here.

I agree - MUA is a commonly used acronym for "mail user agent". It doesn't make sense in this context, but still. We can also say something like "the rules within this document".

The club account is subject to all restrictions of a users account, except that it is a shareable account.

Could we please check if users should maybe be user's or user instead? Thanks.

I've changed it to user.
